A group of Corps folk visited Alnwick Castle & Gardens in Northumberland today.  Some visited the castle only, some the gardens and some visited both.   Although the weather was not the best for the time of year, hence the umbrellas in the photographs seen below, it did not seem to dampen spirits and the day seemed to be a success.  Just before leaving the group met up for a cream tea.

Once again long overdue news this time begins with the Songs of Praise event held at the Nissan Sports and Social Club.  This was an outdoor event with the assistance of local Chester-le-Street Churches and the Sunderland Millfield SA Corps.  You can see from the photos in the slide show that the weather was not the best but still the majority who took part and those who watched seemed to get some blessings from the experience.

The annual ‘Saunter & Share’ walk was held today, this time along the banks of the River Wear in Co. Durham.  Once again it was arranged by Joy & Ian Smith and as always was a great success.

The photograph shows the walkers and supporters, with some of the resident deer, at Witton Park  where they had lunch before the return journey along the riverside.

We said farewell to our officers, Majors Eric & Carol Pearce, at a meeting attended by many local clergy and Rotarians.  During the meeting there was a surprise for Major Carol as ‘Elvis’ came along to sing to her. After weeks of preparation, Roland aka ‘Elvis’, presented Mrs. Major with a scarf before performing ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ with the original recording.  This surprise went down really well with the audience who gave Roland a very warm reception.
Afterwards, the Majors were presented with gifts including a special cake made by Lauren on behalf of the Youth Fellowship who were all very sorry to see them leave.
